By Jeffrey Greenblatt Jan 16, 2018 8:40 am PST

Gospel legend Mavis Staples was the musical guest on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The appearance featured Staples performing a song from her 16th studio album If All I Was Was Black, which was written and produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy.

Staples, who was performing on the late-night variety show on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and has a long history as a Civil Rights activist delivered an inspiring version of the socio-politically charged track “Build A Bridge.”
