Mavis Staples & Arcade Fire Members Share Live Talking Heads Cover

The Mavis Staples: I’ll Take You There – An All-Star Concert Celebration is set to be released on CD/DVD on June 2. The show held November 19, 2014 at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago featured legendary vocalist Mavis Staples leading an ensemble including members of Arcade Fire on a cover of a Talking Heads classic, which has been issued as another preview of the star-studded tribute.
AXS TV will air the concert special this Sunday, April 16 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT featuring performances by Gregg Allman, Widespread Panic, Bonnie Raitt, Jeff Tweedy, Taj Mahal, Michael McDonald, Grace Potter, Aaron Neville and Joan Osborne, among others. Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Régine Chassagne were also part of the performance, joining Staples on a rendition of “Slippery People.”
Earlier this year Arcade Fire shared a new single “I Give You Power” featuring Staples. Below watch video of the live Talking Heads cover, followed by the previously shared video of “The Weight” finale and the film’s trailer:
