Matisyahu To Team With Common Kings & Orphan For ‘The Broken Crowns Tour’

Reggae artist Matisyahu will team with Common Kings and Orphan for The Broken Crowns Tour this fall. The tour comes in support of Matis’s recently-released Undercurrent album with the portion announced today spanning early October through early November.

Common Kings is an Orange County rock-reggae outfit, while Orphan is a new Matisyahu-produced project. “Orphan is a new band I signed currently living and making music out of my home. All three core members Menachem, Nissin, and Chaim are sons of Lubavitch Rabbis and met in Yeshiva. They formed a bond around my release at the time (Live at Stubbs 2) and began to study the sounds of Dub Trio. Of all the music I’ve come across over the years, these 22 year old boys manage to retain the spirit of their Lubavitch heritage while creating music with a fresh Brooklyn edge that is an outgrowth of the Matisyahu sound. I am proud to introduce to you, Orphan, the soundtrack to a generation who never met their rebbe and have had to blaze a new trail,” said Matisyahu in a statement announcing the tour.

Matisyahu will be backed by Joe Tomino on drums, Stu Brooks on bass, original Matisyahu guitarist Aaron Dugan and Big Yuki on keyboards. The tour begins at Portland, Maine’s State Theatre on October 6. From there, the tour will make stops in Rhode Island, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas with additional dates expected to be announced soon.

A pre-sale for American Express cardholders starts on Tuesday, July 11 at 10 a.m. local time and will run through Thursday, July 13 at 10 p.m. local time. General ticket onsale for the tour begins Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m. local time. VIP packages are available via CID Entertainment.
