Margo Price played the cozy confines of New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall last November for WFUV Marquee Members. Today, the NYC-based public radio station released audio of the 50-minute session as well as official video featuring three songs from the show Price recorded for her new album, Strays, including one that didn’t make the final cut.
Strays arrived this past Friday, January 13 via Loma Vista Recordings. The Jonathan Wilson-produced follow-up to 2020’s That’s How Rumors Get Started features a number of songs stemming from a Summer 2020 trip to South Carolina Margo Price took with her husband and frequent collaborator, Jeremy Ivey. Price was joined by Ivey for her set at Rockwood Music Hall on November 8, 2022.
Margo Price and Jeremy Ivey played 10 songs for the stripped-down WFUV session. Strays was represented in the setlist by “Change Of Heart,” “Radio,” “County Road,” “Lydia” and “Been To The Mountain.” The Nashville-based couple also performed “Closer I Get,” an unreleased song from the Strays sessions. Additionally, Price read a passage from her recently released memoir, Maybe We’ll Make It, covered Janis Joplin’s “Mercedes Benz” and looked to her early albums for “Hands Of Time,” “Don’t Say It” and “All American Made.”
