Songstress Margo Price‘s new single, “Long Live The King,” features lyrics honoring Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Martin Luther King Jr. The studio version of the live favorite comes as part of the initial installment of Price’s new mail-order record club, A Series Of Rumors.
Those who subscribe to A Series Of Rumors will get a limited edition, autographed box of 7″ vinyl records that includes songs from Margo’s 2020 LP, That’s How Rumors Get Started, “backed with exclusive B-sides, covers and unreleased collaborations.” Among the previously unreleased gems coming as part of A Series Of Rumors are “lost songs” laid down during That’s How Rumors Get Started sessions held at The Butcher Shoppe in Nashville and Hollywood’s East West Studios. Others were recorded during pre-production sessions held in Texas with or lockdown recordings made with The Pricetags/strong>, Margo’s band.

“Long Live The King” backs That’s How Rumors Get Started single “Hey Child” in a first set of records set to ship immediately that also includes “I’d Die For You” (Synthphonic) and a cover of Bobbie Gentry’s “He Made A Woman Out Of Me” as B-sides to “Letting Me Down” and “Twinkle Twinkle,” respectively. The remaining B-sides for two additional installments will not be announced in advance.
“‘Long Live The King’ is a song about three extraordinary men who changed the course of history for the better,” explained Margo Price. “But no one is without flaw and they each had a duality in their personalities. This song is also about not idolizing celebrities or putting people up on a pedestal because we are all human and we all make mistakes.”
