[UPDATED] Lockn’ Festival Announces Initial 2016 Lineup

The 2016 Lockn’ Festival will take place at Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia August 25 – 28. Today, festival organizers have revealed the initial lineup for this year’s event via Rolling Stone.

Phish, My Morning Jacket and Ween have been tapped to headline Lockn ’16. Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Charles Bradley, Brandi Carlile, Gary Clark Jr., Galactic, Keller’s Grateful Gospel, Keller’s Grateful Grass, Lettuce, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Turkuaz, Twiddle, Umphrey’s McGee, Vulfpeck and White Denim are among the other acts announced today. Additional acts will be revealed soon.

“Phish has headlined their own festivals many times, but they have rarely played festivals with other bands performing,” Lockn’ co-founder Peter Shapiro told Rolling Stone. “So this is going to be a big moment for their fans. To get to see Ween play before Phish is the kind of unique musical moment that we created Lockn’ for.” Phish will play four sets over two nights (Friday and Sunday), while Ween and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will also perform twice.

Lockn’ is known for presenting inventive, once-in-a-lifetime collaborations. Past performances have included famed guitarist Carlos Santana performing with Phil Lesh & Friends, rock legend John Fogerty sitting-in with Widespread Panic and the Tedeschi Trucks Band leading a tribute to Joe Cocker’s Mad Dogs & Englishmen. Organizers of the festival recently announced a change to the dates for Lockn’ as past installments have taken place in September.
