Liz Phair & Sleater-Kinney Close Tour With Collaborative Elastica Cover In Boston

Liz Phair and Sleater-Kinney brought their co-headlining tour to a close at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on Monday. Phair welcomed Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein for an Elastica cover to wrap the concert.

Kicking off on September 6 in El Cajon, California, Liz Phair and Sleater-Kinney made their way across the U.S. over the course of September on The Flannel and The Fury Tour. Soccer Mommy, Snail Mail and Frankie Cosmos provided support at select shows along the way.

Ending up in Boston on Monday, Phair opened her set with “Supernova” off her 1994 album, Whip-Smart. Liz also offered favorites such as “Fuck and Run,” “Extraordinary,” “Polyester Bride,” “Never Said” and “6’1″,” the latter two songs from Phair’s acclaimed 1993 debut album, Exile in Guyville.

The guitarist and singer-songwriter wrapped her main set with Liz Phair standout “Why Can’t I?” For the encore, Liz returned with Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein in tow.

“We’re doing a cover [of] a song from the ’90s that some of you may know and some of you may not. It’s by a band called Elastica,” Tucker said before the performance.

The artists selected “Connection” from the Britpop band’s catalog. Released as a single in 1994, Elastica included “Connection” on their 1995 self-titled debut album.
