The String Cheese Incident keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth, legendary dobroist Jerry Douglas and The Travelin’ McCourys mandolinist Ronnie McCoury were Little Feat‘s special guests on Friday at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre. All three musicians appeared at various points of the night as Little Feat celebrated the 45th anniversary of their iconic Waiting For Columbus album at the venue near Denver.

Little Feat devoted the show to a full Waiting For Columbus performance and tacked on “Let It Roll” for good measure. Hollingsworth was the first guest of the night, as he contributed to “Oh Atlanta” and “Old Folks Boogie” after the band started the evening with “Fat Man In The Bathub” and “All That You Dream.” Kyle focused on organ work while sitting next to Little Feat keyboardist Billy Payne. Up next was a guest-less “Time Loves A Hero” dedicated to late Little Feat co-founder Lowell George that featured images of band members who have passed away displayed on a screen at the back of the stage.

Ronnie McCoury made his initial appearance on “Day Or Night.” Little Feat then went it alone on “Mercenary Territory” before Douglas emerged to add dobro to sizzling renditions of “Spanish Moon” and “Dixie Chicken.” From there, Hollingsworth returned for rousing takes on “Tripe Face Boogie” and “Rocket In My Pocket.” Then, Scott Sharrard channeled George in singing a “Willin'” that saw Little Feat accompanied by Jerry Douglas and Ronnie McCoury.

The concert rolled on sans guests for the pairing of “Don’t Bogart That Joint” and “A Apolitical Blues.” The latter led into a cover of Muddy Waters’ “Long Distance Call” sung by percussionist Sam Clayton. Kyle Hollingsworth, Jerry Douglas and Ronnie McCoury all came back to augment Little Feat on the ensuing “Sailin’ Shoes” and stuck around for the show-closing pairing of “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now” and “Let It Roll.”
