A new era for Linkin Park is now underway seven years after the tragic death of lead singer Chester Bennington. The influential nu-metal band revealed its new lineup, performed a free livestream, confirmed details of six 2024 tour dates and unveiled “The Emptiness Machine,” the lead single from the first new Linkin Park album since 2017.
Linkin Park will release From Zero, their eighth studio album, on November 15 via Warner Records. The band kicks off the From Zero World Tour 2024 on September 11 at Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Additional arena shows will follow in New York City, Hamburg, London, Seoul and Bogota. Presales start today, September 6 with general on-sales tomorrow, September 7.

Linkin Park — Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell and Joe Hahn — enlisted vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain to join the band for their next chapter. Armstrong co-founded the Los Angeles-based rock band Dead Sara and Brittain is a talented multi-instrumentalist and producer.
Shinoda, Delson, Farrell and Hahn secretly started working on new material in recent years with few expectations. The four musicians were more focused on reconnecting than relaunching Linkin Park. They invited several artists to add to the sessions and formed a bond with Armstrong and Brittain. “As the songs came into focus, the band’s DNA was really thick with this body of work. To call it anything else would be strange and misleading,” Mike Shinoda told Billboard about the decision to revive the Linkin Park name.
“We teach our kids that when you fall down, you have to get back up and you have to go try again, right? The idea of us doing some other thing, with this group of people and the sound of this music, feels like it would have been a resignation, in a way. I hate to say ‘cowardly,’ but it would feel like hedging a bet,” Shinoda added.

“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking,” Shinoda said in a statement regarding the new era. “Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”
Linkin Park previewed From Zero by sharing its lead single, “The Emptiness Machine.” The song showcases the chemistry already forged between vocalists Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong. Hints of the band’s trademark sound are all over the track which still keeps one foot in the future.
