The Linda Lindas needed someone to play accordion on their new single, “Yo Me Estreso,” so they recruited none other than one of the top players associated with the instrument, “Weird Al” Yankovic. The song is the latest preview of The Linda Lindas’ upcoming new album, No Obligation.

The Linda Lindas wrote and recorded their sophomore album during “spring breaks, winter breaks, and long weekends.” Guitarist Lucia de la Garza and bassist Eloise Wong are in high school, while drummer Mila de la Garza just completed middle school. High school graduate guitarist Bela Salazar rounds out the quartet.

No Obligation will be released by Epitaph on October 11. The album follows their 2022 debut, Growing Up. Carlos de la Garza produced both releases.

One of 11 tracks making up No Obligation, “Yo Me Estreso” was detailed by Bela Salazar, who stated:

“‘Yo Me Estreso’ is a song about always being stressed, always being anxious and thinking that people are mad at you when they really aren’t. It was inspired by listening to a lot of corridos tumbados, banda and Duranguense and doing that in our own punk style.”

Salazar also shared a Spanish statement regarding the new single:

“‘Yo Me Estreso’ es una canción muy personal. Ya que trata sobre mi propio estrés, mi ansiedad y sobrepensar en escenarios en donde creo que la gente está molesta conmigo. Para esta canción, decidí inspirarme en corridos tumbados, banda y duranguense, pero siempre dándole nuestro estilo ‘Linda Linda’ de punk.”

Along with playing accordion on “Yo Me Estreo,” “Weird Al” Yankovic appears in the accompanying video. Watch below:
