The upcoming show was inspired by the 2022 tribute album Here It Is put together by Cohen confidant Larry Klein. The Grammy-winning producer will serve as the concert’s music director. “It helped keep him in the air around me… the musical language we developed together makes the songs connect with people in a new way,” Klein said of the 12-track collection featuring interpretations of Cohen songs from Frisell, Porter, Norah Jones, James Taylor, Iggy Pop and others.

Leonard Cohen songs expected to be performed by the NSO conducted by Vince Mendoza include “Suzanne,” “Hallelujah” and “Famous Blue Raincoat.” Tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, December 22 via the Kennedy Center’s website.
