Lake Street Dive Finds Way Back With ‘You’re Never Around’

Today, Lake Street Dive dropped a new single entitled “You’re Never Around.” The track marks the band’s first new original music since the release of their 2024 studio album Good Together.

The hard-charging song showcases Lake Street Dive at their most rock-forward. Vocalist Rachael Price trades her trademark soul and jazz flourishes for a punchier edge.

“’You’re Never Around’ is the manic rumination of a lover left at home while their other half tours the world—perhaps in a band? They are waiting, counting the hours, and clinging to talismans,” wrote the band of the new single. “Your golden Casio’s still in my bedside drawer, but it don’t read the right time anymore. Will this rock and roll romance end up with someone exiled on Main Street?”

Lake Street Dive premiered “You’re Never Around” live, along with a few other songs expected to be on the band’s next album, during their April tour. The quintet — Price, bassist Bridget Kearney, keyboardist Akie Bermiss, guitarist James Cornelison and drummer Mike Calabrese — return to the stage after a three-month break on Friday, July 31 to kick off an extensive tour that will keep them on road through October.
