Kurt Vile Reworks ‘Wakin On A Pretty Day’ Into Christmas Song

Yesterday, IFC aired Joe’s Pub Presents: A Holiday Special hosted by actor Tony Hale. The program featured a number of guests, including guitarist Kurt Vile who performed one of his songs but with the lyrics reworked to make it a Christmas tune.

The special featured The Dap-Kings as house band and guests included Bridget Everett, Jo Firestone, Nick Thune, Jen Kirkman and Lisa Loeb. Vile played an abbreviated rendition of his song “Wakin On A Pretty Day,” which led off his 2013 album Wakin On A Pretty Daze.

Joined by Hale, Everett and Loeb, the holiday special rendition saw Vile singing different lyrics that focused on the holiday season. Watch the silly collaboration here:
