Kurt Vile Joins John Prine At Hardly Strictly Bluegrass

Singer-songwriter John Prine was among the musicians who appeared yesterday at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass music festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Prine welcomed guitarist Kurt Vile to sit-in during his afternoon set.

Vile was on hand to perform at HSB with Courtney Barnett and their newly unveiled band The Sea Lice, and after their set at the Swan Stage hustled over to join Prine on the Banjo Stage. Earlier this year, Vile cut a promo for Prine’s recently issued book Beyond Words and on Sunday he joined the 70-year-old for a rendition of “Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness.”

Prine also performed such favorites as “Sam Stone,” “Your Flag Decal Won’t Get You Into Heaven Anymore,” “Taking A Walk,” “Souvenirs,” “Angel From Montgomery” and others. Check out an audience-shot video clip of the collaboration at HSB below:
