KPFA Grateful Dead Marathon To Feature Unreleased Tunes

On Saturday morning at 9 a.m. PT David Gans will kick off the annual KPFA Grateful Dead Marathon that airs until 1 a.m. PT on Sunday. Over the course of the 16-hour broadcast, Gans will air a bounty of unreleased and previously-unheard music by the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia and related artists.

The marathon will be broadcast live on KPFA 94.1 fm in Berkeley. KFCF 88.1 fm in Fresno, KPFK 90.7 fm in Los Angeles, KPFK 98.7 in Santa Barbara, KPFK 93.7 San Diego, and KPFK 99.5 Ridgecrest CA. For those out of the listening area, you can listen in to the webcast via kpfa.org, kpfk.org, nugs.net and gdradio.net.

The Jerry Garcia Team has supplied Gans with a previously unreleased Jerry Garcia Band performance to broadcast tomorrow afternoon -September 16th, 1989 at Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates, IL featuring Clarence Clemons on saxophone. There will also be a live performance by David Nelson and Eric Thompson from the KPFA studio.
