Killer Mike delivered a powerful performance of “Exit 9” on Monday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The rapper dedicated the version of the cut from his 2023 album, Michael, to his late grandmother Bettie.
The appearance came after a memorable day for Killer Mike at the 2024 Grammys. The Atlanta-based musician swept the three categories he was nominated for taking home trophies for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album during the pre-broadcast portion of the festivies. Michael scored Killer Mike the Best Rap Album award while “Scientists & Engineers” won out in the Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance categories.

However, Killer Mike was led away from the festivies in handcuffs due to an arrest on a misdemeanor stemming from an alleged “physical confrontation” with security. The 48-year-old superstar discussed his eventful 2024 Grammys experience during an appearance on The View yesterday before performing on Colbert. Killer Mike called the incident “water under the bridge” and explained he was just happy to be able to head home to Atlanta in time for his son’s kidney transplant surgery.
Killer Mike was accompanied by his choir, The Midnight Revival, and DJ Trackstar on last night’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The rapper flawlessly spit the lyrics of the auto-biographical song as The Midnight Revival backed him and sang verses.
