John Popper Joins Willie Nelson & Family At BeachLife Festival: Full Day Pro-Shot Video

Willie Nelson & Family invited Blues Traveler frontman John Popper to help close out the inaugural BeachLife Festival in Redondo Beach, California on Sunday. The collaboration came after sets from Blues Traveler, Ziggy Marley, Grace Potter, Keller Williams‘ Grateful Gospel and more.

Nelson ended his set in familiar fashion with a medley of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken?,” “I’ll Fly Away” and “I Saw The Light.” Popper emerged for the finale, took a few solos and dueled with Mickey Raphael. Early in the day, Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel opened the Hightide Stage action with a set that featured Stu Allen on lead guitar and included renditions of “I Need A Miracle,” “Samson & Delilah,” “Ripple” and more. Then, Colin Hay worked in such Men At Work classics as “Who Can It Be Now,” “Overkill” and “Down Under” into his set.

Blues Traveler fit plenty of old school gems into their set including “Runaround,” “The Mountains Win Again” and “Hook.” Traveler’s former H.O.R.D.E. tour mates Big Head Todd & The Monsters took the Lowtide Stage next and mixed new tunes with such beloved favorites as “Bittersweet.” Grace Potter was the penultimate artist on the main stage. Potter looked back at her time fronting the Nocturnals for “Loneliest Soul,” “Paris (Ooh La La),” “Ah Mary” and “Stars.” Ziggy Marley then delivered a career-spanning 18-song set that included a number of songs by his father Bob such as “Them Belly Full (But We Hungry),” “One Love” and “Coming In From The Cold.” Nelson brought the night and festival to a close with a performance heavy on his greatest hits.
