John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension shared a quarantine video for their new song, “Lockdown Blues.” The tune is the jazz fusion pioneer and guitarist’s first new recording with the 4th Dimension in five years with proceeds benefitting the Jazz Foundation of America.
“Lockdown Blues” saw John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension recording from four different locales around the world with McLaughlin in Monaco, drummer Ranjit Barot in Mumbai, keyboardist Gary Husband in London and bassist Etienne M’Bappe in Paris.

“As a band, we’ve been together so long we’re family,” McLaughlin said in a statement. “But in fact we go further back: Humanity is the only family, and we believe the only way humanity will survive is if we care enough for each other. We hope that whoever sees or hears this will care also. So, if you donate something — even something really small — thank you.”
