The The Rolling Stones’ 50 and Counting Tour continued last night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. Once again the band made sure to welcome some guests, the most notable of which was guitarist John Mayer. Mayer, who sat in with the Stones twice before at last year’s shows in Newark, came out seven songs into the set for a cover of Muddy Waters’ “Champagne & Reefer.”
Song-wise, the biggest surprise of the night was The Stones dusting off their 1981 hit off Tattoo You “Waiting On A Friend” for the first time on the entire tour. In fact, the last time The Rolling Stones performed “Waiting On A Friend” was back on June 16, 2007 at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France.
Former Stones guitarist, and this tour’s nightly special guest, Mick Taylor, emerged after Keith Richards’ turn in the spotlight for his signature sit-in on “Midnight Rambler.” As he did earlier in the tour, Taylor returned to add a triple guitar attack to the evening’s finale – “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” Also in the encore, the University Of Southern California Thornton Chamber Choir helped out on “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”
Here’s the setlist from The Rolling Stones’ show last night in Anaheim.
