The Grateful Dead recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of their debut studio album by issuing an anniversary edition of the self-titled 1967 LP. Guitarist John Mayer has honored the occasion by taking out a full page ad in the latest issue of Billboard.
The Dead & Company axeman accompanied an image of the Dead’s Steal Your Face logo with a brief note that reads, “To the band that changed my life, and for their music that keeps on coloring it in: Congratulations on the 50th anniversary of your debut album.” He signed the note/advert with “Forever Grateful, John Mayer.” Dead & Company features Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart joined by Mayer, Jeff Chimenti and Oteil Burbridge. The group returns to the road in late May.
