John Mayer Helps With Gender Reveal In Columbus

On August 3, John Mayer continued his solo Summer Tour 2019 with a stop at Columbus, Ohio’s Schottenstein Center. During the show’s first set, the Dead & Company guitarist helped two lucky fans with a gender reveal, inviting the couple on stage and reading the results of their pregnancy test to them and to the crowd.
Mayer first identified the couple after the husband, Ben, held up a sign asking if he would do their gender reveal. Citing “points for originality,” the The Search For Everything singer welcomed Ben and his wife, Margo, onto the stage, where they handed him an envelope from 7 Hills Women’s Health Center. After examining the paperwork, Mayer exclaimed, “The future of your and your life in here, and you have bestowed upon me this great responsibility and I want to sing to you.” He went onto to play the bridge from “Daughters,” which features lyrics like, “Boys will be strong, and boys soldier on.”
