John Mayer’s World Tour continued at the United Center in Chicago on Wednesday night. The Dead & Company guitarist treated the Windy City audience to a rendition of the Grateful Dead’s “Fire On The Mountain” halfway through his second set.
Mayer kicked off the show with “Belief” followed by a run of “Clarity,” “Who Says,” “Something Like Olivia” and “Waiting On The Day.” The singer-songwriter then turned to “Love On The Weekend” from his latest album The Search For Everything. “I Don’t Trust Myself (With Loving You)” came next ahead of “No Such Thing,” a cover of Pete Townshend’s “Let My Love Open The Door” and “The Age of Worry.” Mayer closed out the first frame with his latest single “I Guess I Just Feel Like.”
The guitarist got the second set underway with a cover of Beyoncé’s “XO” followed by “3×5,” “In Your Atmosphere,” “Heartbreak Warefare” and “Moving On And Getting Over.” “Stop This Train” came ahead of “Queen Of California,” which led into the second “Fire On The Mountain” of the tour. Mayer continued with another cover in Prince’s “The Beautiful Ones.” Next up was a run of “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room,” “In The Blood” and “Edge Of Desire” before the second set closer, “Gravity.” Mayer retook the stage for an encore of “Wheel” and “New Light.”
