Joe Walsh closed out his 2022 VetsAid benefit concert on Sunday with a four-song set at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Walsh and special guests Dave Grohl and godson Roy Orbison III delivered a raucous “Rocky Mountain Way” to conclude the evening.
Joe Walsh & Friends launched the encore set with another Walsh classic, “In The City.” The guitarist recorded a solo version for the soundtrack to the 1979 film The Warriors. Joe was a member of The Eagles at the time and the song also made it on the band’s album that year, The Long Run. The first song from Walsh’s Barnstorm days, “Turn To Stone,” followed.

Walsh then welcomed back Dave Grohl — who joined James Gang on drums earlier in the evening — this time on guitar for the But Seriously Folks… favorite “Life’s Been Good.” Dave then hopped back on the kit alongside drummer Joe Vitale. “Uh oh, Dave’s on the drums again,” Joe said before the band, which also featured VetsAid 2022 performers The Breeders on vocals, launched into “Rocky Mountain Way” to cap off the concert. A special moment came when Roy Orbison’s four-year-old godson, Roy Orbison III, came out to jam with the band during the song’s iconic talk box segment.
