Joe Walsh was the musical guest on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Thursday to promote his upcoming VetsAid benefit concert. Walsh teamed back up with Louis Cato & The Late Show Band as well as Joe Vitale to perform “Rocky Mountain Way.”
Walsh co-wrote “Rocky Mountain Way” with singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joe Vitale, who was a classmate of Walsh’s at Kent State University in Ohio. Walsh invited Vitale to join a band he was forming in Colorado called Barnstorm, who subsequently recorded “Rocky Mountain Way” in 1973.

For their recent performance on The Late Show, Vitale manned the piano on the classic rocker. Walsh also reunited with Louis Cato & The Late Show Band who he spent a week with in August as rocker in residence. The band delivered a pretty spot on rendition of “Rocky Mountain Way” complete with Joe’s signature slide guitar and talkbox and the song sounded fantastic with horns.
