Joe Marcinek Band Announces Debut Live Album Featuring Dennis Chambers, Jason Hann & More

Joe Marcinek Band will release the project’s debut live album, JMB Live In NYC, on April 17 via Bent River Records. The JMB previewed the eight-song set by unveiling video of their reworking of the Beatles’ “Come Together” featured on the LP.

JMB Live In NYC documents the all-star ensemble’s August 26, 2023 concert at The Iridium Jazz Club in New York City. Guitarist Joe Marcinek was joined for the show by drummer Dennis Chambers, multi-instrumentalist Howard Levy, percussionist Jason Hann, pianist Jesus Molina, bassist Ola Timothy and vocalist Reilly Comisar.

The new live album follows the group’s nine previously released studio albums and offers greatest hits from the JMB catalog along with choice covers of “Come Together” and “Kissing My Love.” Marcinek and Bent River Records will celebrate the release at the annual Joe Marcinek Dead Funk Summit show at New Orleans’ d.b.a. during Jazz Fest on April 28.

“After releasing nine albums of original music I thought it was time to finally do a live album,” Marcinek explained. “I always considered my project more a live experience than a studio one but never felt I had all the right elements until this show. The playing was unbelievable and the setilst really reflected all my previous albums and truly gets to the core of what JMB is all about.”

The Beatles initially released “Come Together” in 1969 on the last album they recorded together, Abbey Road. “We started doing ‘Come Together’ as a reggae with Ola Timothy on bass and providing this earthy grounding to such a classic song,” Joe added. “Really feel as though the message is more important now than ever. We all need to come together and maybe the power of music is what can bring us all together!”
