Jim James Fits Tour Debut Into The Capitol Theatre Show: Pro-Shot Full Show Video
By Scott Bernstein Nov 15, 2018 • 7:24 am PST

Jim James returned to The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Wednesday night. While setlists for the My Morning Jacket frontman’s solo tour have featured a relatively similar batch of songs, he did dig into his back catalog for an MMJ classic last night at The Cap.
James split his show into a 19-song main set and a five-tune encore. Drummer Dave Givan accompanied Jim on a handful of songs including the pairing of “The World’s Smiling Now” and “All In Your Head” that opened the show. The Louisville native then pulled “Changing World” from his New Multitudes project. Jim went on to mix material from My Morning Jacket and his solo albums. He performed a total of seven tracks off Uniform Distortion, his 2018 LP including “Over & Over” with opener Alynda Lee Segarra. “Golden,” “Dondante” and “Bermuda Highway” were among the My Morning Jacket classics played in Port Chester. Jim James also unearthed “Knot Comes Loose” from MMJ’s Z for the first time this tour. The night’s encore started with “I’m Amazed” and “Hopefully” from the Jacket repertoire and also included solo cuts “No Use Waiting” and “A New Life” as well as a cover of Timmy Thomas’ “Rainbow Power.” Watch pro-shot video of the entire show via Jim’s YouTube channel:
