Jim James Debuts Bob Dylan Cover In Louisville

By Scott Bernstein Nov 26, 2016 6:58 am PST

My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James continued his tour in support of Eternally Even with a hometown show on Friday night. James and his band featuring Twin Limb played a lengthy set and encore at the Palace Theatre in Louisville, Kentucky that had a few surprises.

Jim James started the show with a 13-song set heavy on songs from both the recently released Eternally Even and 2013’s Regions Of Light And Sound Of God. When he returned for the encore, James noted how thankful he was to be surrounded by so many people he loved and was thankful to be from Louisville. He then played the Woody Guthrie-penned “Changing World” from the New Multitudes project by himself accompanied by just a guitar. Jim continued on with a gorgeous a capella rendition of Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changing.” The rest of the band returned for “Of The Mother Again,” “Dear God” and a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “I’m Set Free.” James and his group ended the night with “Down On The Bottom” from The New Basement Tapes and his own “State Of The Art (A.E.I.O.U.).”
