Shop of Wild Dreams is “original, soulful, and entirely unpredictable – call it jazz as that’s the only genre big enough to contain it but listen for influences from East European choral singing to roots American country gospel to deep groovin’ funky hip hop beats.” (Sarah Townes). Co-produced by Todd Sickafoose, this brand new CD features Jessica Lurie on saxes, flute and voice, Sickafoose on bass and Allison Miller on drums from Ani DiFranco’s current band, with Charlie Hunter keyboardist Erik Deutsch and genius banjoist and guitarist Brandon Seabrook. Special guests include Tina Richerson on baritone sax and Elizabeth Pupo-Walker on percussion.
Lurie will also be sticking around the Northwest next weekend, playing gigs with the Rockin’ Teenage Combo – PK (bass), Dara Quinn (electric keyboards), Ollie Klomp (drums) and Jessica Lurie (saxophones).
