EVER STUNNING SAXOPHONIST SHARES WILD DREAMS

Jessica Lurie
Jessica Lurie (The Living Daylights, Tiptons Saxophone Quartet) will release her new CD, Shop of Wild Dreams at a series of album release shows, and eventually through www.Cdbaby.com. The first album release show is next week, Wednesday, November 13, at the Seattle Art Museum as part of the museum’s Art of Jazz concert series. Lurie’s ensemble for this performance will be Keith Lowe (acoustic bass), Tim Kennedy (piano), Izaak Mills (saxophones) and John Ewing (drums). The East Coast CD release show will take place December 3 at the Brooklyn Lyceum.

Shop of Wild Dreams is “original, soulful, and entirely unpredictable – call it jazz as that’s the only genre big enough to contain it but listen for influences from East European choral singing to roots American country gospel to deep groovin’ funky hip hop beats.” (Sarah Townes). Co-produced by Todd Sickafoose, this brand new CD features Jessica Lurie on saxes, flute and voice, Sickafoose on bass and Allison Miller on drums from Ani DiFranco’s current band, with Charlie Hunter keyboardist Erik Deutsch and genius banjoist and guitarist Brandon Seabrook. Special guests include Tina Richerson on baritone sax and Elizabeth Pupo-Walker on percussion.

Lurie will also be sticking around the Northwest next weekend, playing gigs with the Rockin’ Teenage ComboPK (bass), Dara Quinn (electric keyboards), Ollie Klomp (drums) and Jessica Lurie (saxophones).
