Official audio of Jerry Garcia and John Kahn’s acoustic performance from January 27, 1986 at The Ritz in New York City will be issued by The Jerry Garcia Family via Round Records on August 14. GarciaLive Volume 14: January 27th, 1986 The Ritz includes a cover of Bob Dylan’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” audio of which was premiered by Rolling Stone and can be streamed below.
“When I Paint My Masterpiece” was the penultimate song of the pair’s first of two sets on January 27, 1986. The show came as part of a brief tour of the Northeast by Garcia and his longtime collaborator. Jerry and John also fit in traditional songs, a few tunes from the Grateful Dead catalog and a cover of Dylan’s “Simple Twist Of Fate.”
