Jennifer Mydland Makes Her Live Debut In Lafayette

By Scott Bernstein Apr 3, 2017 10:12 am PDT

Vocalist/guitarist Jennifer Mydland made her live debut on Saturday night at the Town Hall Theatre in Lafayette, California. Lafayette was the home town of her father, the late Grateful Dead keyboardist Brent Mydland.

Jennifer was backed by keyboardist Scott Guberman and guitarist Pat Nevins for a four-song set that came ahead of a performance from Bob Dylan/Neil Young tribute act Shakey Zimmerman. The young vocalist opened with “I Don’t Have You” before leading an engaging cover of “Valerie” by Amy Winehouse.” Jennifer showed off her powerful pipes on Kris Kristofferson’s “Me & Bobby McGee” and then sang a tune her father would often lead the Grateful Dead through, Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy.”

Watch multi-cam video of the set thanks to Rupert Coles:

Mydland returns to the stage to open for Shakey Zimmerman at Club Fox in Redwood City, California on April 20.
