Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires presented an emotional celebration of John Prine as Wednesday’s installment of the I So Lounging livestream series. Isbell, Shires and Seth Plemmons played three of the beloved singer-songwriter’s songs and told tales about John Prine over the course of the 40-minute episode.
The episode began with a cover of John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery” featuring Isbell on lead vocals with beautiful harmonies provided by his wife, Amanda Shires. Amanda then told a story of eating cannabis edibles with Prine on 4/20 in London. Jason went on to discuss John Prine’s love of particular condiments and the first time he met the singer-songwriter. Kelly Garcia Plemmons, who assists the trio and relays comments from the livestream, also weighed in on her experience with Prine. More stories of performing with John Prine came from Jason and Amanda before a performance of “Clocks And Spoons.”

Zeyk (the dog) made an on-camera appearance before Jason, Amanda and Seth performed John Prine’s “Illegal Smile.” The episode ended in usual fashion, with a blues jam.
