Amanda Shires‘ latest installment of her I So Lounging livestream series once again featured her husband, Jason Isbell. The pair teamed up with guitarist Seth Plemmons for a 39-minute broadcast on Sunday that included a song from Shires’ The Highwomen project and a Warren Zevon cover.
Shires, Isbell, Plemmons and Kelly Plemmons Garcia began Sunday’s I So Lounging by taking questions by viewers. The trio of Amanda, Jason and Seth then performed “Cocktail & A Song,” one of 12 tracks featured on The Highwomen’s self-titled debut album. Shires is joined in supergroup The Highwomen by Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby and Maren Morris. Next, the trio served up a rendition of “Look Like A Bird” from Amanda’s 2013 LP, Down Fell The Doves.
Amanda and Jason went on to tell a story of how they came to start performing Warren Zevon’s “Mutineer” before the trio dug in on the title track from Zevon’s 1995 album. Finally, a discussion of the first song each of the musicians learned led into a blues jam that incorporated portions of Eddie Rabbit’s “I Love A Rainy Night.” Watch Sunday’s installment of I So Lounging below:
