Jam Cruise 14 sets sail from Miami on January 6 aboard the MSC Divina and visits Belize City, Belize and Cozumel, Mexico before returning to Florida on January 11. Along the way cruisers will be treated to performances from the likes of Dr. John & The Nite Trippers, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Galactic, Lotus, JJ Grey & Mofro, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and many others.Today Jam Cruise organizers have announced the hosts for the Jam Room, January’s Piano Atrium Sets and the two remaining theme nights.
One of the more unique aspects of Jam Cruise is the Jam Room. Each night a host brings aboard a host of musicians from the boat for improv-heavy sessions that run through the early morning hours. Jam Cruise 14’s Jam Room hosts will be Dumpstaphunk bassist Nick Daniels, guitarist Eric McFadden, TLG/Billy & The Kids bassist Reed Mathis, Lettuce guitarist Adam Smirnoff and NOLA bassist George Porter Jr..
Another “only on Jam Cruise” experience are the nightly piano sets at The Atrium. These intimate performances have been highlights of past trips. In January, Atrium Sets will be performed by Dumpstaphunk’s Ivan Neville, ALO’s Zach Gill, Lettuce’s Nigel Hall, Cory Henry of Snarky Puppy and Holly Bowling.
Many Jam Cruisers dress in costume for the boat’s theme nights. We already knew “Level Up! Video Game Night” would be the theme for one night and today we learned the other two themes will be “The Great Jamsby” (think the glamourous ’20s and funk meets swank) and “Red Night.”
