Jack White is full of surprises and the latest was a show at the tiny The Earl in Atlanta last night that was announced the morning of the concert. White and his band made a few changes to the setlist from their Saturday night show in Nashville including the live premiere of “Underground” from Jack’s new No Name album.

White was already slated to play an intimate performance at Terminal West in Atlanta on Wednesday, but threw in the gig at The Earl for good measure. The Earl has a capacity of 300 while Terminal West holds 625 patrons. Tickets for the Monday night concert went on sale to Third Man Records vault members shortly after the show was confirmed with a limited general on-sale following an hour later.

Jack White, bassist Dominic Davis, drummer Patrick Keeler and keyboardist Bobby Emmett kicked off their first of two Atlanta shows with “Old Scratch Blues,” “That’s How I’m Feeling” and “Archbishop Harold Holmes” off No Name. The initial swerve from Saturday’s setlist followed as White led the band through The White Stripes classic “Cannon” complete with elements of the traditional “John The Revelator.”

The quartet then looked to The White Stripes’ 2007 LP for “Catch Hell Blues” and completed a trio of songs that went unplayed in Nashville with the “Underground” debut. White and company devoted the next portion of songs to tunes which made the setlist on Saturday and then dusted off “That Black Bat Licorice” from 2014’s Lazaretto. From there, the band went back to Jack’s White Stripes days for their first versions of “Icky Thump” and “Astro” of the year before performing No Name cut “Morning At Midnight” again. The 82-minute concert was capped with The Raconteurs’ “Steady, As She Goes.”
