The Infamous Stringdusters released their bluegrass-infused take on Avicii‘s “Wake Me Up.” The studio track is the latest preview of the band’s Undercover Vol. 3 covers compilation, which is due out on November 13 via Americana Vibes.

Undercover Vol. 3 also finds the jamgrass quintet putting their spin on Phish’s “Possum,” “Fly Like An Eagle” by the Steve Miller Band, ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man,” the Grateful Dead classic “Touch Of Grey” and Harry Styles’ “As It Was.” The Infamous Stringdusters previously released Undercover in 2015 and Undercover, Vol. 2 in 2017.

Swedish DJ and record producer Avicii originally issued “Wake Me Up” in 2013 as the lead single from his debut album, True. The Infamous Stringdusters premiered their cover of the song live in 2014 and have performed “Wake Me Up” dozens of times since. Bassist Travis Book handles lead vocals.

“The song I chose for ‘Undercover’ was ‘Wake Me Up,’ which is an Avicii tune,” explained Book. “I really love that it was a popular song, so when we play it, people have connection to it. People can remember when it was the hit of the summer and I love that it was part of a project that Avicii did where he was collaborating with a lot of musicians. I also think the song has a cool, sort of positive message that relates to the angst of being young and struggling with identity trying to figure out what’s next in your life. I love the way we play it—it’s always a blast!”
