The Infamous Stringdusters Put Bluegrass Spin On Phish Classic For New ‘Undercover’ Compilation

The Infamous Stringdusters will release Undercover, Vol. 3 on November 13 via Americana Vibes. Out today to preview the band’s first Undercover covers compilation since 2017 is a take on the beloved Phish song “Possum.”

Grateful Dead, Avicii, Steve Miller Band, ZZ Top and Harry Styles are among the eclectic list of artists The ‘Dusters covered for Undercover, Vol. 3. The jamgrass quintet started the series with Undercover in 2015 and two years later followed with Undercover, Vol. 2.

While The Infamous Stringdusters have never put out a studio version of “Possum” until now, the song has been a staple of the band’s live shows for over six years. Penned by founding member Jeff Holdsworth, “Possum” has been sung by bassist Mike Gordon since Holdsworth left Phish in 1986.

The Infamous Stringdusters recently announced they will ring in 2025 with a two-night New Year’s Run at The National in Richmond, Virginia. Fireside Collective opens on December 30 and gets the action underway on New Year’s Eve (December 31).
