HSMF Adds Spearhead, Gordon, Surprise Me Mr. Davis, Akron/Family

Set to take place July 3-6, 2008, High Sierra Music Festival is pleased to announce the newest additions to their lineup. Joining the 18th annual celebrations will be Michael Franti and Spearhead and legendary Phish bassist Mike Gordon, who’ll be bringing the rock with his own band. Plus they’ve added the Emmitt-Nershi Band, a new project fronted by the dynamic duo of Leftover Salmon mandolinist Drew Emmitt and guitarist Bill Nershi of Honkeytonk Homeslice and formerly The String Cheese Incident; Surprise Me Mr. Davis, featuring festival favorites The Slip and Nathan Moore; new High Sierra artists Spam Allstars and Akron/Family, two bands with distinctly different styles who share a love of mixing instruments and electronics, compositions and improvisation to create amazing live performances. As there are more than 75 artists performing throughout the weekend, there will be many more additions to soon.

High Sierra Music Festival is excited to share the newest lineup announcements. Making their first ever High Sierra appearance, Bob Weir & RatDog will be joining the annual Independence Day festival! Bringing the British R&B and soul will be James Hunter (whom Van Morrison calls “one of the best voices, and best kept secrets, in British R&B and soul”), plus they’ve added festival favorites New Monsoon and The Mother Hips and New Orleans’ Rotary Downs.
