RUSH took the stage on Thursday at the Kia Forum for the third show of their The Fifty Something Reunion Tour and continued to switch up the setlist. Founding members bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson along with drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold unveiled two tour debuts in L.A. and devoted the start of their second set to a complete performance of the band’s 1981 album Moving Pictures.

The initial tour debut was “New World Man,” the penultimate song of the first set. Rush hadn’t played the track from 1982’s Signals since the final show of their Vapor Trails Tour in 2002.

Rush began the second set with “Tom Sawyer” and as they were rolling through subsequent takes on “Red Barchetta” and “YYZ,” it started to become clear the band was intending to perform their iconic eighth studio album in the same sequence found on Moving Pictures. The other tour debut on night three was a 10-minute version of “The Camera Eye,” the song that opens side two of Moving Pictures. Rush previously played the entirety of the record live during each stop of their The Time Machine Tour in 2010 and 2011.

After the full-album performance, Rush brought back vocalist Aimee Mann to duet with Geddy Lee on “Time Stand Still” for the third time in as many shows. A rare miscue took place at the beginning of the “2112” that closed the second set when Lee’s bass failed. Rush aborted the attempt and then restarted the “Overture.” While the four musicians performed all of the 2112 suite on Tuesday, they only played three of the seven movements last night.

“By-Tor & The Snow Dog” and “Working Man” were slotted in as the encores in a reprise of the sequence that ended opening night. Rush closes out their run at the Kia Forum on Saturday, June 13.
