Bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson took the stage as Rush last night for the first time since ending their R40 Tour in Los Angeles on August 1, 2015. The band showcased their new lineup by opening the 2026 Juno Awards with a surprise performance of “Finding My Way” in Hamilton, Ontario.
The performance of the opening song from Rush’s self-titled 1974 debut album marked live debuts for drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold. Nilles replaces longtime Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart, who died in 2020. Gold is best known as touring member of The Who and Chicago.
Rush hadn’t performed “Finding My Way” in full since 1976 as per Setlist.FM. “You really can’t ask us what song to play. If we have to choose one song it’s almost impossible. We have so many,” Geddy Lee told reporters in the media room after the performance.
“So we just asked management, and they said first song, first album,” Lee added.
“Also it’s the only song we know how to play,” Alex Lifeson quipped.
Rush featuring Lee and Lifeson joined by Nilles and Gold will launch their Fifty Something Tour on July 28 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. After additional North American shows over the remainder of 2026, the band will start 2027 with dates across South America and Europe.
