Hiss Golden Messenger Shares Two New Singles

Next month Merge Records will release Hallelujah Anyhow, the latest studio album by Hiss Golden Messenger. Two new singles have been issued from the record coming out on September 22.

The quick follow-up to 2016’s Heart Like a Levee, the 10-track Hallelujah Anyhow features Hiss Golden Messenger leader M.C. Taylor recording alongside Brad Cook, Phil Cook, Chris Boerner, Josh Kaufman, Darren Jessee, Michael Lewis and Scott Hirsch. Taylor also sought harmony vocal contributions from Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, Tift Merritt, Skylar Gudasz, Tamisha Waden, Mac McCaughan and John Paul White.

“‘Domino’ is an acknowledgment that what I do for a living is, on its face, funny,” Taylor recently told Uncut. “But this life has a pull for me; travelling for a living has been existentially good. It’s hard, and hard things are good, I think. When you travel a lot, so many perceived differences between people are flattened, and you realize how small the world is, and how everybody wants the same things – love, warmth, shelter, food, happiness. Things that are simple in description but also deeply rich and, for many, hard to get at.”

The band also added a handful of dates to their upcoming tour including a stop in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on October 27 and a visit to the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. on December 11.
