The Heavy Pets Present ‘Strawberry Mansion’ Album Release Party – Videos & Setlist
By Scott Bernstein Feb 28, 2018 • 9:43 am PST

South Florida jam act The Heavy Pets issued Strawberry Mansion, their first studio album in seven years, this past Friday. The Pets celebrated the occasion with an album release party at The Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale.
Guitarists Jeff Lloyd and Mike Garulli, keyboardist Jim Wuest, drummer Jamie Newitt and bassist Tony D’Amato kicked off the festivities with a special first set. The Heavy Pets played each and every Strawberry Mansion track in the order they appear on the album.
The quintet went the old school route to begin the second set, as they opened the frame with “Dewpoint.” Next, The Heavy Pets served up a cover of “Today” by The Smashing Pumpkins. Then, the band went with the Little Feat-esque “Travel” and performed “Fortresses.” One of the highlights of the set was a pairing of Sly Stone’s “If You Want Me To Stay” and their own classic “Help Me Help You.” The second set ended with “Movie Star” and “Sleep” before The Heavy Pets bid farewell to the hometown crowd with an encore of “3 A.M.” and “Jackie Bones.”
The Heavy Pets have a busy few months on the road ahead. On Thursday night the band plays Charlotte and then heads to Asheville and Savannah before a trip to Colorado.
