Today marks the birthday of Reid Genauer, a founding member of both Strangefolk and Assembly Of Dust. Reid helped form Strangefolk in 1991 and the band grew from a local Burlington band to a nationally touring act. In 2000 Genauer parted ways with Strangefolk and began Assembly Of Dust a few years later. AOD was quite active in the mid to late ’00s and early ’10s both on the road and in the studio. Reid reunited with the original Strangefolk lineup in 2012 and the group has played sporadically ever since.
Guitarist/vocalist Reid Genauer was a regular at Gathering Of The Vibes both with Strangefolk and Assembly Of Dust. In 2002, Genauer performed a solo set at that year’s installment of Vibes. A crispy soundboard recording of the set is available for our streaming and downloading pleasure. Reid opened with “Sweet Libation” and continued on with “Rachel” and “Poland” from his Strangefolk days. The set moved on with “Stone Choir,” “Speculator,” “Pedal Down” and “Roads.” Jon Trafton and John Lecesse then joined Reid to close the set with “Things That Fly” and “So Well.”
