Happy Birthday Mickey Hart – Woodstock ’99

Today marks the 72nd birthday of Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart. Mickey’s been keeping busy lately jamming with the Disco Biscuits and Bill Kreutzmann at Red Rocks, performing at the Fare Thee Well concerts with his Dead bandmates and the drummer will also soon head out with some of his former bandmates along with John Mayer in Dead & Company on an extensive Fall/Winter Tour. Tonight the birthday boy and his Deep Rhythm Experience plays at Lockn’ Festival with Steve Kimock, EOTO and Android Jones.

For Mickey’s birthday we’re giving the drummer extraordinaire the Full Show Friday treatment, looking back at his performance with Planet Drum at the ill-fated Woodstock ‘99 music festival. Joining Hart on stage on July 24, 1999 included the likes of guitarist Mark Karan and drummer John Molo, and the set featured Dead favorites “Fire On The Mountain” and “Not Fade Away” as well Hart’s nod to Jerry Garcia, “Down The Road.”
