Happy Birthday Jimmy Page: With The Black Crowes In 2000

Globally acclaimed rock guitarist Jimmy Page celebrates his 72nd birthday. Renowned for his work with Led Zeppelin, Page got his start in the early 1960s in his native England as a highly talented and often employed session guitarist before becoming one of the many guitarists to spend time in The Yardbirds.

With Zeppelin, Page developed a signature sound and style, bolstered by a doubleneck Gibson electric guitar and mighty riffs to match its impressive stature. His licks on songs such as “Kashmir,” “Whole Lotta Love” and the international hit “Stairway To Heaven” have made Page one of the most influential rock ‘n’ roll guitarists of all time.

Since Zeppelin’s breakup in 1980 Page has remained active, sharing stages and recording studios with a talented roster of diverse musicians. One such instance was in 1999 when he paired up with The Black Crowes for a handful of shows focused on his Led Zeppelin material. The successful run resulted in a full-fledged tour along with The Who (for whom Page did session work in the 60s) in 2000. One stop on that tour was at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York on July 10. For the show the collaborators mostly stuck to Zeppelin tunes, with a couple of Crowes cuts like “Remedy” and “She Talks To Angels” in the mix as well.
