Happy Birthday Jeff Tweedy: Performing Live With Wilco & Beyond Spotify Playlist

By Andy Kahn Aug 25, 2018 7:37 am PDT

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy was born in Belleville, Illinois on this date in 1967. The 51-year-old singer-songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, record producer and (soon-to-be) author has been a vital component of authentic American music since starting out with Uncle Tupelo in the late-1980s.

While Wilco is taking 2018 off from the road, Tweedy will embark on a solo Fall Tour next month and in November he will release his first book, a memoir entitled Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back) – A Memoir of Recording and Discording with Wilco, Etc.. This edition of Saturday Stream focuses on Tweedy’s live performances over the years with a Spotify Playlist made up of live recordings by Wilco, with a couple of Uncle Tupelo tracks and other extras rounding out the set.

Wilco is joined by a number of guest artists on several songs, including on a Grateful Dead cover with Bob Weir, on a Bob Dylan cover with Fleet Foxes, on a traditional blues song with Roger McGuinn and performing “Jesus, Etc.” with Andrew Bird. Tweedy can also be heard performing alongside Mavis Staples as well as participating in the all-star Big Star Third live concert series. Stream the live collection below:
