New York City-based Guerilla Toss’ tour supporting their new album, You're Weird Now, landed at Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday night. Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, who contributed to the album, joined the band for “Red Flag To Angry Bull” and a cover of “All Tomorrow’s Parties” by The Velvet Underground.
Pavement guitarist Stephen Malkmus produced You’re Weird Now, which Guerilla Toss recorded at Anastasio’s studio, The Barn in Westford, Vermont.
Guerilla Toss frontwoman Kassie Carlson, guitarist Arian Shafiee, drummer Peter Negroponte, keyboardist Jake Lichter and bassist Zach Lewellyn started their live collaboration with Anastasio at Brooklyn Bowl with “All Tomorrow’s Parties.” The song has been covered by the band numerous times, with Carlson playing John Cale’s violin parts and singing Nico’s lead vocals.
“Red Flag To Angry Bull,” one of the You’re Weird Now singles, followed the VU cover, with Anastasio providing the guitar he played on the record, along with backing vocals.
