It’s been a while since Gregg Allman has trotted out new material, but a photo he shared showed that may soon change. In the photo below, which was shared on Allman’s Facebook page, we see Gregg participating in a post-holiday writing session with two members of his formidable solo band -keyboardist Pete Levin and guitarist Scott Sharrard.

Gregg last released a solo album, the highly-acclaimed Low Country Blues, back in 2011. Not to mention, the last The Allman Brothers Band album came out way back in 2003. There’s no word yet on what Gregg plans to do with the material he’s working on, but perhaps we’ll get a taste when he returns to the road for a three-week run starting on New Year’s Eve.

Now that The Allmans are finished, Gregg is expected to focus on his solo band. Allman’s touring band features Sharrard, Levin, drummer Steve Potts, percussionist Marc Quinones, Ron Johnson on bass and horn players Jay Collins, Art Edmaiston and Marc Franklin.
