One of the best blues-rock guitarists to live on this earth, Stevie Ray Vaughan, passed away in a tragic helicopter accident 25 years ago today. SRV’s sound and legacy lives on in many of the guitarists who have followed in his footsteps. We can only imagine the music Vaughan would’ve gone on to make had Stevie not boarded the helicopter on that fateful night.
Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble and the Gregg Allman Band teamed up for a number of a shows in the ’80s. The only known footage of the legendary axeman and keyboardist performing together comes as part of a 21-minute video recorded on June 29, 1984 at Beaver Dam Lake Music Festival in Manitoba, Canada. Following interviews with Stevie and Gregg we get to see a brief but fluid instrumental jam featuring Vaughan and Allman which starts at the 6:55 mark.
