FloydFest organizers have announced Gregg Allman’s headlining set at tonight’s fourth day of the FloydFest 16 in Floyd, Virginia has been canceled due to illness. The announcement comes one day after Gregg canceled his Friday night appearance in Wilmington, North Carolina. A supergroup is being lined up to perform in place of Allman’s set at FloydFest.
Gregg has “medical issues that prohibit the legend from travelling to Floyd and performing” according to the statement. “First and foremost, our thoughts are with Gregg, and we hope for a full and speedy recovery for this living legend, who means so much to so many of us,” FloydFest organizers said. “These circumstances are out of our control, but we are blessed to have more than 100 bands on our mountain, from which we can pull together something that has never really been done before at FloydFest — a true, one-time-only super group.”
The supergroup set to perform tonight is being put together by Leftover Salmon and Keller Williams and will feature other musicians currently on-site. Warren Haynes, Leftover Salmon, Monophonic and Con Brio are among the other acts scheduled to play Saturday at FloydFest. Our thoughts are with Gregg on a speedy recovery.
