The 2016 Strings & Sol annual destination concert event came to close last night at the Now Sapphire resort in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. One of yesterday’s highlights was a main stage performance by Greensky Bluegrass that featured sit-ins by many of the other musicians partaking in the festival.
Greensky Bluegrass started off the action with “Merely Avoiding” and “Worried About The Weather” > “Time.” At that point the first guests were brought to the stage as Duke Davis and Railroad Earth’s Andy Goessling joined in on a rendition of “Miss September.” Next up were The Infamous Stringdusters (sans Travis Book) and vocalist Nicki Bluhm for a cover of “After Midnight.” GSBG then worked up a guest-free Spanish version of “For Sure Uh Huh.”
The set progressed with favorites such as “New Rize Hill and “Jaywalking” and eventually RRE’s Tim Carbone coming out for a cover “Handle With Care.” Carbone was tapped out for Danny Barnes and Larry Keel who sat-in on “I’d Probably Kill You.” One additional outsider, Leftover Salmon’s Drew Emmitt also got in on the fun, guesting with GSBG on “Kerosene.” The set concluded with Greensky delivering “When I Get My Hands On You,” “Past My Prime” and “Living Over.” Watch video highlights shared by Strings & Sol below:
